US Electrodynamics Teleport Links with Gazprom Space Systems’ Yamal 300K Satellite – Satellite Today

[Via Satellite 08-03-2015] Russian satellite operator Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) has initiated cooperation with U.S. Electrodynamics (USEI) of Brewster, Wash., for teleport services. USEI has pointed one of its 9-meter antennas to Yamal 300K to operate the satellite’s Northern Beam 1 for a large communications services provider serving the aeronautics industry. Gazprom Space Systems recently relocated the Yamal-300K satellite to the 183 degrees east orbital position. The company is targeting aviation and maritime customers in particular with the Northern Beam 1, which covers part of Eastern Russia, the Northern part of the Pacific Ocean and the Western part of North America.

“So far we have observed a shortage of Ku-band satellite capacity in the Pacific. The Yamal-300 footprint will give customers a new option for this bandwidth,” said David Grooms, business development executive, USEI, said. “We are looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with GSS and expanding our services globally by utilizing other satellites within the GSS constellation.”
