[Via Satellite 12-01-2014] The number of homes with multichannel television in the Asia Pacific has reached 500,639,000 according to new research from the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA). Findings from the organization’s Asia Pacific Multichannel TV Advertising 2015 report reveal that consumers are 25 percent more willing to pay for anywhere access to video today compared to 2012.
CASBAA noted a general trend toward tablet and smartphone use for video both at home and elsewhere. Citing the Ericsson Consumer Insight Report 2014, the association found Over-The-Top (OTT) services and on-demand content becoming increasingly important.
“Our latest report reinforces the fact that the Asia Pacific is truly the growth engine for the multichannel TV industry today,” said Christopher Slaughter, CEO of CASBAA. “When we look at non-terrestrial TV connections, 61 percent of homes in Asia now receive multichannel TV and the region is poised to strengthen its leadership as the largest multichannel video market globally in terms of subscribers.”
