[Via Satellite 04-01-2015] Intelsat has promoted two executives to its leadership team following the April 1 transition of Stephen Spengler from deputy CEO to CEO. The transition, announced in December 2014, took place today, and former CEO David McGlade has now taken the role of executive chairman. Intelsat’s new leadership team members are Kurt Riegelman, who takes the role of Senior Vice President (SVP) for sales and marketing, and Michael DeMarco, who fills the newly created role of SVP of operations.
Riegelman started with Intelsat in 1998 as vice president of North America sales, rising to leadership for the Americas region in 2006 and worldwide in 2008. Prior to his new position, Riegelman served as SVP of global sales.
DeMarco, as SVP of operations, is responsible for Intelsat’s network engineering, network operations and information system teams, including the company’s eight global teleport operations, effective immediately. In his former role as SVP of marketing and solutions development, he guided Intelsat’s product management, marketing, customer solutions engineering and asset management functions. DeMarco is now tasked with directing Intelsat’s information system strategy and delivering of the company’s end-to-end service portfolio. This includes integrating Intelsat’s EpicNG High Throughput Satellite (HTS) platform, of which the first satellite is slated to launch in early 2016.
