[Via Satellite 3-17-2015] Panasonic Avionics has secured satellite capacity on the Hunter Communications Canada Ku-band beam hosted on Eutelsat Americas’ Eutelsat 115 West B satellite. By procuring nearly one-third of the available capacity, Panasonic will provide Internet access, airline data services and live TV access to aircraft outfitted with Panasonic’s satellite delivery service.
The Eutelsat 115 West B will provide a variety of services that include broadband, cellular backhaul, and VSAT solutions for industries that include oil and gas markets of Alberta, mining sectors in Northern Canada, and maritime use for commercial and military applications.
“Using this satellite, Panasonic will be able to provide connectivity services from Central Canada to the West, including the Yukon gap, at levels that have previously been unavailable to any In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) provider,” said David Bruner, vice president of global communications services for Panasonic Avionics.
